• Sealing all work areas from the rest of the site using plastic sheeting, duct tape, danger signs, and putting the contained areas under negative pressure using HEPA air filtration units.
• Carefully remove all asbestos containing materials using wet methods. Wet fibers do not float in the air as easily as dry fibers and are easier and safer to clean up.
• Double bagging the material to ensure uncontaminated bags are not being taken outside of the containment areas.
• Cleaning the removal area thoroughly with wet mops, wet rags, and HEPA vacuums.
• Applying an asbestos encapsulant to remaining surfaces to lock-down any residual asbestos fibers.
• Properly dispose of all asbestos containing materials and debris to an approved landfill.
• Post completion testing of the air performed by a licensed air sampling professional.
